At Least Get the Facts Straight

As the Republicans are trying to reduce this election to a single issue, "Who is the best leader for the War on Terrorism?", at least that could get their facts strait. Comments taken out of context were Kerry's response to whether US soldiers lives should be risked in Bosnia or Somalia. He didn't believe we should act unilaterally in either situation. But his response now becomes a univeral endorsement of UN action is the only acceptable circumstance for US casualties. See the geniuses below: Rush Limbaugh, right-wing radio host: "John Kerry believes that American troops dying under the banner of the U.N. flag is acceptable, when dying under the banner of the American flag is not." [The Rush Limbaugh Show, 10/20/04] William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard: "Kerry really does believe that the United Nations is a fundamental, legitimizing body for the use of U.S. force. É His near obsession with gaining the approval of the U.N., and for

Jesus Christ born in Ukraine 03/30/2004 13:04 New Jesus Christ has been baptized in Ukrainian town of Zhitomir in March. Residents of this town already got used to the fact that they all had a chance to witness the event. Local priest Vladimir Radzuk named his son Jesus Christ in order to test peoples' attitudes toward God. In the end, the result turned out to be not quite as he had expected. Jesus was born in someone's half-burned flat. The son was the one to pay for his father's sins. Apparently, Rudzak was the only priest who supported political demonstration "Ukraine without Kuchma"; he ran into troubles because of it and in the end lost his post. His son Jesus Christ was born practically weightless-only 2 kg 670 grams. Doctors declared him "almost healthy." The priest took a long time to decide who will baptize the baby. His wife Natalya offered one candidacy, Leonid Yarmolnik. He however declined the role of John the Baptist. In the end, t

Fidel Castro: "Bush couldn't debate a Cuban ninth-grader" 02/17/2004 11:02 Shortly after US president George W. Bush praised a plan to realize a "transition to democracy" in Cuba, Fidel Castro challenged Washington to be "clear" about such plans, and criticized American capitalism. "The US economy hangs by a thread", told the 77-year old revolutionary leader, in a 4 + hours speech addressed to economists from all around the world, in Havana. In his speech, Castro also wondered whether those plans involve a plot to kill him. Since he took power in Cuba in 1959, the CIA has plotted to assassinate him 600 times, all unsuccessful, of course. Castro, also made a defense of his revolution stating that Cuba, after four decades under Washington's economic blockade, "continues to offer free health care and has an infant mortality rate lower than that in the United States". "The great difference" between Cuba and the United

Killing Castro

Bob Clasen posting a dialogue: ____________________________ Richard started with this response to my Good Terrorism posting: Before she left office last month, the former president of Panama released 4 men of Cuban origen (who had moved to Miami) who had been conviced of tryingto assasinate Fidel Castro 2 years ago in Panama. I'm no fan of Castro, but rogue groups trying to asssasinate a head of state (whether we like him or not) has to qualify as terrorism. (One of the men who was released had been convicted earlier for blowing up a Cuban commercial airplane in the 1970-s, killing all on board. Convicted bya court in Venezuela, and in jail in Venezuela. He managed to get out butthat's another story.) Three of the four went home to a heros' welcome in Miami. (Whereabouts Of the fourth was misterious.) Not a word of criticism from Bush OR Kerry. Bush changed plans to go to Miami for a campaign event to coincide with the return of the three. Were the f

Republican Statements on WMD and Iraq

Can you say feel duped? Notice the change in April 2003. Even Bill O'Reilly and I agree on this issue. How the United States should react if Iraq acquired WMD. "The first line of defense...should be a clear and classical statement of deterrence—if they do acquire WMD, their weapons will be unusable because any attempt to use them will bring national obliteration." Condoleeza Rice, US National Security Advisor January/February 2000 issue of Foreign Affairs 2/1/2000 We are greatly concerned about any possible linkup between terrorists and regimes that have or seek weapons of mass destruction...In the case of Saddam Hussein, we've got a dictator who is clearly pursuing and already possesses some of these weapons.. A regime that hates America and everything we stand for must never be permitted to threaten America with weapons of mass destruction. Dick Cheney, Vice President Detroit, Fund-Raiser 6/20/2002 Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein

Would Any Democrat Vote for Bush?

________________________ By Stephen Green   Famously -- or perhaps infamously -- ABC's influential political blog The Note (fawning New Yorker magazine profile? Check. http://www.newyorker.com/press/content/) claimed that "we still can't find a single American who voted for Al Gore in 2000 who is planning to vote for George Bush in 2004."  That was last August.  Since then, I've kept a scorecard of exactly which Gore voters are supporting Bush this year.  Some of them, even ABC News may have heard of. Ed Koch -- lifelong Democrat, former Congressman, and New York City councilman and mayor -- for example: "I intend to vote in 2004 to reelect President Bush. I will do so despite the fact that I do not agree with him on any major domestic issue, from tax policy to the recently enacted prescription drug law. These issues, however, pale in importance beside the menace of international terrorism, which threatens our very survival as a nation. President Bu

Good Terrorism and the U.N.

__________________________________ By Joshua Muravchik This month, the United Nations Security Council voted to condemn terrorism. The resolution was introduced by Russia, still grieving over the terrorist attack on a school in Beslan, and perhaps the unanimous vote will give it a measure of solace. But the convoluted text and the dealings behind the scenes that were necessary to secure agreement on it offer cold comfort to anyone who cares about winning the war against terrorism. For what they reveal is that even after Beslan and after Madrid and after 9/11, the UN still cannot bring itself to oppose terrorism unequivocally. The reason for this failure is that the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which comprises fifty-six of the UN's 191 members, defends terrorism as a right. After the Security Council vote, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John C. Danforth tried to put the best face on the resolution. He said it "states very simply that the delibe

Cheney Vows to Attack U.S. if Kerry Elected

http://www.theonion.com/news/index.php?issue=4041 Source: the Onion Political: Anti-BUSH GREENSBORO, NC—In an announcement that has alarmed voters across the nation, Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that he will personally attack the U.S. if Sen. John Kerry wins the next election. "If the wrong man is elected in November, the nation will come under a devastating armed attack of an unimaginable magnitude, one planned and executed by none other than myself," Cheney said, speaking at a rally in Greensboro, NC. "When they go to the polls, Americans must weigh this fact and decide if our nation can ignore such a grave threat." Added Cheney: "It would be a tragedy to suffer another attack on American soil, let alone one perpetrated by an enemy as well-organized and well-equipped as I am. My colleagues and I urge voters to keep their safety in mind when they go to the polls." Although Cheney would not comment on the details of his proposed a

Yasir Arafat Supports Kerry

__________________________________ Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei sends money to Kerry. __________________________________ ARAFAT: KERRY`S THE ONE Posted 10/20/2004 By AARON KLEIN Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasir Arafat is hoping John Kerry wins the U.S. presidential election in November, according to several Palestinian leaders. Arafat deputy and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said in an exclusive interview with WorldNetDaily that while “we do not involve ourselves in internal American politics,” at the same time “our region has been sliding deeper and deeper into chaos because of certain policies over the past few years, and this needs to change.” While he would not directly endorse Kerry, it was clear Erekat was implying the PA wants a change in White House leadership: “If things continue the way they are, if certain policies toward our region are maintained in the years to come, there is going to be a lot of violence on both sides.” A prominent Ara

Is Osama Bin Laden Dead?

Probably yes _______________________ The last videotape purportedly showing Osama Bin Laden was released October 19, 2003, a year ago. But there is nothing in that video to verify that it was taken at that time. In fact, Osama looks healthier in that video than he did in the December of 2001 video, when he looked none too good. According to most experts, the audio tapes released over the past year are fabricated or can't be dated. If Osama was alive, wouldn't he want to release a video of himself to laugh in the face of the Great Satan and prove that he had prevailed in some way over the Infidel? It looks increasingly unlikely that Karl Rove is going to be able to produce Bin Laden as the October Surprise unless they find his dead body. In fact, despite Kerry's accusation that Bush let Osama get away in Tora Bora, it seems likely that Osama lies buried in some cave in Tora Bora. If you are interested in reviewing a more detailed review of the e

Why I Will Vote for Bush

by Bob Clasen ___________________ This is not the time to have a shape shifter as our President. We need a candidate who has at his core a set of consistent moral principles. Bush has surrounded himself with smart and experienced leaders on national defense: Condaleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfield. We have overthrown the Taliban and Iraq's regime of thugs, but George needs four more years to finish the job. By contrast, Kerry has been on the wrong side of every military action and important military vote for thirty years, including the first Iraq war, when we had all the allies and global support one could ever hope to have, and Kerry still voted against throwing Hussein out of Kuwait. If Kerry were President, Saddam and his two psychopathic children would still be in charge, still running the rape rooms, still filling the mass graves. Regarding Afghanistan, Matthew Heidt, a former Navy Seal said, ________________________________________

Republicans Have Better Sex Lives

The full results of this wide-ranging sex poll will be presented during a live, hourlong "Primetime Live" event airing Thursday, Oct. 21 (10-11 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network. More Than A Nuisance

by Mark Steyn Chicago Sun Times _______________________________________ I love that bit in every debate where John Kerry pledges to "hunt down and kill the terrorists.'' You can see him thinking, ''Must remember to say 'kill' very loudly and in a deep voice. And sound as if I'm not gonna be some pantywaist president who uses special forces or unmanned drones. I'm gonna kill -- sorry, KILL -- 'em myself.'' This is to dispel suspicions that in reality he'd hunt down the terrorists and serve them with a subpoena, possibly from one of the less robust judicial systems, such as The Hague or Massachusetts, and possibly for mail fraud, if the whole mass murder thing looks like it won't stick. But it's exhausting having to remember when to spit out the tough talk, and so your concentration wanders, and you get relaxed, and then you say things like this to the New York Times: ''We have to get back to the place we wer

Do You Even Care?

I thought this was pretty funny, for some reason: taken from http://www.pubblog.com/v-web/b2/index.php?m=200410#46 the October 16 posting. ________________________________________________ The Issues [General] -  nick - jns@pubblog.com @ 17:06:48 Did Kerry crudely mention that Dick Cheney’s daughter was a lesbian for purely political reasons? Yes, of course, but I don’t care. Is Dick Cheney’s daughter a lesbian? Sure, but what difference does it make? Did GW let Osama Bin Laden escape at Toro Bora? OBL is dead, probably at Tora Bora, but if he isn’t, does it make much difference? Not really. Does John Kerry change his positions on issues a lot? Yeah, so what? Did George Bush get preferential treatment to get into the National Guard, and then not show up sometimes? Undoubtedly, but I don’t care. Did John Kerry exaggerate and lie about his military record? Yeah, looks that way, but it was a long time ago, and I don’t care. Is the doomed Federal Marriage Amendme

How Kerry Votes: Like A Massachusetts Liberal
